STI India (STIIN) is a 100% export-oriented cotton yarn and knitted grey fabric producer situated amidst the cotton-growing belt of Madhya Pradesh. Part of the Indore-based STI group, which has a presence in the precision steel tube sector, the company was incorporated on Aug. 7, 1984 and got its present name on Feb. 24, 1995. Producing cotton-combed yarn, organic yarn, fair trade yarn and knitted fabric, the manufacturing unit is located near Indore in Madhya Pradesh with an installed capacity of 68,016 spindles and 16 knitting machines. It has brought in the world`s best line-up of machinery and equipment, especially imported from UK, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and other countries. During the year 2006-2007, the company added 11 combers thereby increasing the combed production. Four circular knitting machines were added to bring the total knitting machines to 16, and organic and fair trade yarn were introduced into production for better value addition. The company utilized Rs 1120.3 million comprising a major part of the subscription received from the overseas private investors, Spinnaker Investment Group (UK) and Eight Capital & Associates (USA), towards one-time settlement of the existing outstanding liabilities towards its secured creditors. STI Sanoh India, a joint venture between the company and Sanoh Industrial Co. of Japan, is a leader in the production of double-wall tubes, single wall tubes and automotive components.
