Pondy Oxides & Chemicals (PONDYOXC) is engaged in the manufacture of metallic oxides and plastic additives. It was incorporated on March 21, 1995. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company operates through its metallic oxides, PVC stabilizers, energy, smelter and zinc divisions. The product portfolio includes zinc oxide, lead sub oxide, litharge and red lead used in the rubber, paints, batteries, glass, ceramics and pharmaceutical industries; lead-based stabilizers, liquid stabilizers, paint driers, plasticizers, and lubricants; high-power batteries which finds application in UPS, domestic inverters, emergency lighting, and automobiles; smelted, refined and alloyed lead metal; and refined zinc. The manufacturing facilities are located in Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Pondicherry with installed capacities of 96,000 batteries, 24,120 MTPA metallic oxides, and 4,200 MTPA plastic additives. In FY07, it set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant for the process of smelting, refining and alloying of lead metal with a license to manufacture 14,000 MTPA. The project for the manufacture of refined zinc is under implementation. Baschem Pharma, a subsidiary company, is engaged in the manufacture of liquid stabilizers epoxy oil and paint driers.
