KPR Mill (KPRMILL) is a vertically-integrated producer of readymade knitted apparel and cotton knitted fabric and yarn. Founded by the chairman K.P. Ramasamy, the company was incorporated as a private sector company on March 19, 2003. The company became a public limited company following a merger and pursuant to a scheme of arrangement with effect from April 1, 2005. K.P.D. Sigamani is the managing director of the company. The group`s three mills KPR Mill Private, KPR Spinning Mill Private and KPR Cotton Mills Private were merged to create the combined entity KPR Mill. The company operations are located in Coimbatore, Sathyamangalam and Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. It currently has 128,064 spindles, 113 circular knitting machines and 1,517 sewing machines. A new facility was started in Arasur, Coimbatore, which would be fully operational by 2008. When complete, the cumulative manufacturing capacity would be approximately 54,000 MT of yarn and 17,200 MT of fabric across all facilities. It is also constructing a new fabric processing facility at SIPCOT, Perundurai, to be fully operational in July 2007 with a processing capacity of 23 MT fabrics per day. The company has installed windmill facilities in Tirunelveli, Thenkasi and Coimbatore with a total capacity of 39.07 MW of power. Production activities at Sathyamangalam and Karumathampatti are ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004, and SA 8000:2001 certified. It is certified as a One Star export house by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It currently exports 99.86% of readymade knitted apparel directly to international clients including Carrefour, Penneys (Primark), Pom-tex etc., and has have more than 1,000 regular domestic clients for yarn and fabric.
