Longer Trading Hours in Times to Come

1. If SEBI has its go; than one may be going to see longer trading hours which means that equity market will be open for trading from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and same is based on feedback received on a discussion paper floated by Sebi for longer trading hours in equity.


2. The original trading hours are as enumerated below:

(a) Cash & derivatives segments are open from 9:55 am to 3:30 pm

(b) Currency derivatives market operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

(c) Commodity futures market operates from 10:00 am till 11:30 pm.


3. This proposal may see light of the day if  Secondary Market Advisory Committee (SMAC) gives a green signal to the same and thus brokers and traders will have more time to make money from market.
